Worlds Unfolding: Five-Volume Tome Traces 1,000 Years of Science Through Huntington Archives
Princeton University Press will release 'Worlds Unfolding: Science on the Page' on October 10, a five-volume slipcased set exploring the history of science, medicine, and technology through over 625 illustrations from The Huntington's archives in San Marino, California. Compiled by Jennifer A. Watts, Daniel Lewis, Joel A. Klein, and Natalie Lawler, the collection spans the 10th century to the present, drawing on research papers, natural history volumes, photographs, and ephemera. Highlights include a 1931 portrait of aviation pioneer Ruth Rowland Nichols beside her Lockheed Vega, a double-exposure of Nikola Tesla with his coil, Eadweard Muybridge's motion studies, and a color-enhanced image of Saturn from Voyager 1. The volumes are titled 'Above, Below, Within, Beyond,' and 'Alive,' with an introduction by engineer and PBS personality Bill Nye. The set is available for pre-order from Bookshop.
