WORKac, led by principals Amale Andraos and Dan Wood, has completed the Riverhouse in Hopkinton, Rhode Island. This residential project transforms floodplain limitations into an architectural solution by elevating the structure to meet regulatory requirements. Designed to Passive House standards, the compact timber-clad building features a distinctive faceted blue metal roof with integrated solar panels, creating a central courtyard. The house incorporates triple-glazed windows, photovoltaic panels with battery storage, and thick insulation for fully electric operation. Collaborations with designers like MOS Architects, Petra Blaisse, Austėja Walter, and Karim Chaya introduce custom furniture, textiles, and tiles throughout the interior spaces.
