Winter Vandenbrink's 'Wolves' Captures Teenage Collectives

Winter Vandenbrink, a Dutch-born, Paris-based photographer, has released his second photo book, Wolves, published by IDEA in 2026. The book explores teenage groups as a collective, inspired by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari's text 1914: One or Several Wolves. Vandenbrink shot images across European cities including Amsterdam, Paris, Milan, and Venice, using a more immersive approach than his earlier work, which relied on a long lens. The book includes a commissioned essay by Eliot Haworth and was designed by Linda van Deursen. Vandenbrink's previous book with IDEA, Vandals (2024), featured 400 pages of youth portraits. He describes his photographic process as "hunting and meditating at the same time." The images are not styled but present a hyper-stylised editorial vision of contemporary teenage life, with subjects wearing brands like Puma, Adidas, and Balenciaga. Vandenbrink notes that adolescence fascinates him due to the transformation from innocence to the real world. He continues to work in Paris and plans a future project in Morocco.
