William Camargo's Personal Photography Survey at Hannah Sloan

William Camargo's exhibition 'All That I Can Carry' at Hannah Sloan Curatorial & Advisory in Los Angeles presents over twenty-four works from 2019 to 2025, marking his largest showing to date. The Anaheim native initially explored fashion, product photography, photojournalism, and conflict reportage, but found them unfulfilling and risky. He turned to documenting social justice issues in his home city, focusing on the low-income community near Disneyland affected by gentrification and displacement. His early self-portraits, such as 'We Gunna Have to Move Out Soon Fam!' (2019) and 'Yo, There Is A Bunch of Brown Folks on This Side!' (2019), use handmade signs to comment on development and racial segregation. 'A Colonist is a Colonist is a Colonist' (2022) addresses indigenous history at a high school. His series 'All That I Can Carry' (2025) features the artist posing with family storage unit contents, exploring memory and economic resourcefulness. The most recent project, 'Take a Portrait with Me' (2025), initiated during a Costa Rica residency, involves volunteers removing shirts for impromptu photos, examining masculinity and trust. The exhibition runs from April 11 to May 30, 2026, at 5613 San Vicente Blvd, Los Angeles.
