Wiki World's Red Bridge Cabin merges bridge, gallery and dock typologies in Zhengzhou park

The Red Bridge Cabin is a striking timber structure situated on a tiny island within Yuancheng Cultural Park, located in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, China. This park effectively combines ecological design with the conservation of the Yuanling Ancient City heritage site. Featuring a narrow, bridge-like corridor with clear panels, two courtyards, and a large skylight, the cabin is constructed from laminated timber and custom elements. It aims to minimize environmental disturbance and incorporates carbonized wood for durability. The design preserves existing trees and pathways, focusing on minimal intervention. As part of the 'Wiki Building School' project, it explores small living environments, with input from Mu Wei, Feng Zhaoxian, and others, and photography by Arch-Exist.
