Whitney, Brooklyn Museum, and American Folk Art Museum Staff Vote to Authorize Strike
Workers represented by unions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Brooklyn Museum, and American Folk Art Museum in New York City have decided to permit strike action if equitable contract proposals are not provided, according to Hyperallergic Senior Editor Valentina Di Liscia. This decision came as The Metropolitan Museum of Art held its groundbreaking ceremony for the Tang Wing for Contemporary Art, created by Frida Escobedo. Additionally, the Brooklyn Public Library initiated its inaugural craft supply lending program, and Brooklyn Creative Reuse opened a new store in Industry City. The School of Visual Arts will discontinue its graduate program in Photography, Video, and Related Media. Artist Lucien Smith passed away at the age of 37, and an inflatable artwork inspired by Bulgari is currently displayed on the High Line.
