Wassim Releases 'Moitié-moitié' Album on November 6 via inTempo Musique
Québec-born singer Wassim will release his new album "Moitié-moitié" on November 6 through inTempo Musique. Born in Gatineau, Québec, to Lebanese origins, Wassim builds a musical universe that blends contemporary pop, French-language chanson and oriental influences. The record explores roots, memories and family ties that shape an identity between two cultures. Cultural transmission is central to the new songs, notably through a portrait of a grandmother whose memory is fading. Wassim uses the phrase "Alzheimer culturel" to express his fear of seeing traditions and stories linking generations disappear. The album also addresses long-distance romantic relationships, the bond between a father and his son, and the wounds of Lebanon. The 2020 Beirut port explosion remains a painful reference for many families and for the Lebanese diaspora. Wassim turns these sensitive subjects into melodic compositions carried by modern production. Laurence Nerbonne handled production and arrangements. Gaële and Amylie also take part in the project, while the oud evokes the singer's oriental roots. The album follows "L'Artiste" and "Portrait," released in 2023, and a tour of more than thirty concerts in Québec. Published during Lebanese Heritage Month in Canada, "Moitié-moitié" celebrates the richness of multiple identities and the need to pass on one's history.
