Wannenes Design e Stile Italiano Auction: Giacomo Abate on Selection and the 20th Century

market-auction · 2026-10-14

On 20 and 21 October, Wannenes will conduct its Design e stile italiano auction via its Web-live platform, showcasing more than 500 lots spanning from the 1930s to the 1990s, curated by Giacomo Abate and Andrea Schito. Following this, a distinct auction titled Opere moderne e multipli d'autore (Asta 633) is scheduled for 22 October. Abate highlighted the significance of provenance and original context in determining auction outcomes, using a pair of Gio Ponti armchairs (lot 81, estimate €1,600–2,000) as a case in point. The catalogue features pieces by Gino Sarfatti, Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Gae Aulenti, among others. CEO Guido Wannenes has concentrated on logistics and audience development over the past fifteen years, with sessions at 15:00 on both days.
