WALDKRAFT Packaging Design Prioritizes Material Over Ornament

Berlin's Hüterin Kreative has crafted packaging for WALDKRAFT, a brand specializing in functional mushrooms. The design features embossed aluminum cans with vertical ridges reminiscent of tree bark or growth rings, complemented by kraft-brown labels and rich forest green accents. Each mushroom type—Lions Mane, Cordyceps, Reishi—is identified by a subtle shift in color rather than additional graphics. The logotype remains understated, allowing the embossed surface to convey the brand's message. The sustainable aluminum is recyclable and develops a matte texture over time. Additionally, each can sold contributes to the planting of three new trees. The studio sourced its mushrooms from forests in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg, emphasizing that surface finish should precede typography and color in sustainable branding.
