Visiones Contemporáneas 2026 Features Candela Sotos, Claudia Claremi, and Aura Satz in Salamanca
The fourteenth season of Visiones Contemporáneas, a project dedicated to Spain's latest film and video trends, is curated by Playtime Audiovisuales for DA2, Domus Artium 2002, the Contemporary Art Center of Salamanca. Candela Sotos presents her exhibition until June 7, 2026, showcasing recent works Danza No III and Yrupē, which draw from family archives to explore science and nature. Her interdisciplinary practice, involving film, graphics, and installations, investigates political ecology of images and challenges science as the sole field of knowledge. Sotos's work has been displayed at Matadero Madrid, Centro Pompidou Málaga, Jardín Botánico Carlos Thays, and Centro Cultural de la Memoria Haroldo Conti in Argentina, earning awards at festivals like Seminci in Valladolid, Márgenes in Madrid, and the Spanish Film Festival in Toulouse, France. During summer months, the program will feature visual artist Claudia Claremi, whose work examines memory, body, diaspora, identity, coloniality, and phytoculture. The season concludes with an exhibition by Aura Satz, a visual and sound artist exploring intersections of sound, technology, body, and image through hidden narratives and genealogies. The project builds on previous editions, including the 2025 season inaugurated by filmmaker Cecilia Barriga and a 2024 cycle starting July 4, following the 2023 publication of a book documenting the project from 2013 to 2022.
