Vienna's United Stages Implements Austerity Plan with Job Cuts

The Vereinigten Bühnen Wien (VBW), a major Viennese performing arts institution, has announced a cost-saving package that includes staff reductions. Approximately 20 employees will lose their positions, with management stating that mutual agreements based on a social plan have been reached. This follows a reduction in annual subsidies by five million euros, bringing total public funding to 51 million euros. The measures were detailed by managing director Franz Patay on Thursday. The Musiktheater an der Wien is among the venues affected by these budgetary constraints.
