Vardaxoglou mounts Thérèse Oulton retrospective of 1980s paintings in 'Holding Patterns'

Vardaxoglou gallery presents 'Holding Patterns,' a solo exhibition featuring paintings created by Thérèse Oulton between 1982 and 1989. This marks Oulton's second solo show with the gallery, following her first in over a decade presented by Vardaxoglou in 2024. The exhibition assembles significant works from the 1980s that examine materiality, process, and pictorial formation. Oulton, who emerged in the early 1980s, has continuously questioned painting's parameters while affirming its potential. She was the first woman nominated for the Turner Prize. The show offers a reassessment of Oulton's role in late twentieth and early twenty-first century art history, highlighting her substantial contribution to painting.
