Vanja d'Alcantara's 'Cap Farewell' Hits Theaters July 22

Vanja d'Alcantara's third feature film 'Cap Farewell' will be released in theaters on July 22. The film noir with a female lead follows Toni, who regains freedom, works in her uncle's bar, and returns to live with her mother Betty, with whom relations are tense. Betty raised Anna, the daughter she had with Max, her childhood love, for whom she went to prison. Toni must fight to break free from a toxic environment and assert herself as a mother and free woman. D'Alcantara, born in Brussels, studied history and film directing. Her projects include documentary 'La Tercera Vida' (2005) shot in a Spanish prison, short film 'Granitsa' (2006) on the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia, and first feature 'Beyond the Steppes' (2010), an intimate story of a Polish woman deported to Siberia during WWII inspired by her own grandmother. Her second feature 'Le cœur régulier', based on Olivier Adam's novel, was shot on a remote Japanese island with Isabelle Carré, Niels Schneider, and Japanese actor Jun Kunimura.
