Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi's 'Bugie' exhibition at Satine explores objects between artifice and nature

The inaugural solo exhibition of Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi, titled 'Bugie', took place at Satine in Venice from March 7 to April 11, 2026. This showcase delved into the interplay between artificial and natural elements through various mediums, including photography, video, and ceramics, with curation assisted by Anna Franceschini's text. It displayed both decorative and disquieting pieces, such as a copper gate designed to resemble cardboard, enameled copper tables, brass works adorned with viscose ribbons, and small perforated copper objects. Drawing inspiration from 1980s American domestic design, it challenged the aesthetics of figures like Laura Ashley and Martha Stewart. Documented by Filippo Rossi and Ambra Crociani, notable works included 'Granelli', 'Funambuli', and 'Calla', with an epigraph from Fleur Jaeggy highlighting themes of material change and collective memory.
