V&A East Museum Opens April 18, 2026 in London's Olympic Park with New Commissions and Collection

On April 18, 2026, the Victoria & Albert Museum will inaugurate the V&A East Museum at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford. This five-story structure, designed by O’Donnell + Tuomey, spans 7,000 square meters and will house permanent galleries named 'Why We Make,' displaying over 500 artifacts across ten distinct themes. Notable pieces include works by Leigh Bowery and Maud Sulter, along with Thomas J Price's bronze sculpture, 'A Place Beyond.' The New Work commissioning initiative will introduce creations from Carrie Mae Weems, Es Devlin, and more. Additionally, the temporary exhibition 'The Music is Black: A British Story' will be featured. Admission will be free, although special exhibitions may incur a fee. The V&A East Storehouse, showcasing David Bowie's archive, is set to open in late May 2025.
