US Appeals Court Reinstates $656 Million Judgment Against Palestinian Organizations Following Supreme Court Ruling

The 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals has reinstated a $656 million judgment against the Palestine Liberation Organisation and the Palestinian Authority. This decision, dated March 30, revives a decade-old verdict originally dismissed on jurisdictional grounds. Judges acted in response to a Supreme Court ruling from June 2025 that upheld a 2019 congressional law. That legislation permitted lawsuits by American victims of terror attacks in Israel to proceed against foreign entities. Attorney Kent Yalowitz stated that client families felt relieved after waiting a long time for justice. Another plaintiffs' lawyer, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, expressed satisfaction following 22 years of litigation. The appeal court had initially tossed out the verdict because US courts lacked jurisdiction over overseas attacks not targeting the United States.
