Uruguayan Artists Explore Oceanic Depths as Metaphor in Montevideo Exhibition

An exhibition titled 'Resonancias desde el abismo. Prácticas artísticas entre presiones y frecuencias extrañas' is currently presented at the Centro Cultural de España in Montevideo. Curated by Fabiana Puentes, the show features works by eight Uruguayan artists: Guadalupe Ayala, Karina Flores, Leticia Almeida (Tanky), Mathías Chumino (C03RA), Liliana Farber, Pol Villasuso, Sofía Córdoba, and Vera Garat. The exhibition uses the extreme conditions of the deep ocean as a conceptual framework to examine alternative forms of perception, communication, and existence that resist straightforward interpretation. The artists work across sculpture, video, installation, sound, and performance, creating an immersive environment that challenges conventional systems of reference and explores ambiguity.
