Urbanus Designs Colorful Shenzhen School Inspired by Hakka Architecture

Chinese architecture firm Urbanus has completed the Hakka Academy Longgang Twin Stars in Shenzhen, a dual-school complex drawing inspiration from traditional Hakka walled villages. The project comprises two institutions: the Weilong School for primary and secondary students, covering 73,500 square meters, and the Weiwu School for primary students, spanning 25,800 square meters. Located near the historic Qixing Shiju Residence, the design features multi-level structures, geometric shapes, and vibrant facades with cutouts intended to counteract the area's uniform urban environment. The architects aimed to create a community hub that integrates with the surrounding neighborhood through pathways, sports courts, and green spaces. Photography for the project was credited to TAL.
