University of Portsmouth School Show Features Modular Activewear and Cassette Tape Project

The School of Architecture, Art and Design at the University of Portsmouth is showcasing a school exhibition that features student projects from the BA (Hons) courses in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Photography, and Illustration. A standout piece is 'Free Bodies' by Hannah Hatchard, a modular activewear line crafted from bio-based materials such as naturally dyed cotton, silk, and hand-felted wool, drawing inspiration from Henri Matisse. Other significant works include 'Conscious Framework' by Aimee Hurst, which investigates architecture and sustainability; 'The Crane: Deconstructed' by Jesicca Harding, incorporating origami and collage; and 'A Manifesto for Change in Ten Tapes' by Joel Allen, which reflects on cassette tape culture. Photography highlights include 'Kin and Skin' by Lydia Leech, focusing on cultural identity, and 'Frames of Absence' by Lauren Rufford, centered on memory. This exhibition is a collaboration between Dezeen and the University of Portsmouth.
