Union Demands Rockstar Games Address Working Conditions Ahead of GTA 6 Launch
The Video Game Workers Union, part of the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB), has called on Rockstar Games to acknowledge the union and tackle issues related to pay transparency, flexible hours, and overtime. The IWGB, which represents employees at Rockstar's Edinburgh and other UK locations, asserts that since organizing in 2019, there have been "unprecedented" salary increases. Some members initiated legal proceedings against Rockstar, claiming unlawful dismissal in October 2025 due to union activities, which Rockstar refutes, citing gross misconduct. A tribunal is scheduled for September 2026. Former employee Jack Hoxby described the circumstances as "nerve-racking." As the release of GTA 6, anticipated in November 2026, draws near, Rockstar intends to engage with the union. Currently, only ZA/UM has a recognized union in the UK.
