UAE Cyber Security Head Mohamed Al Kuwaiti on Iranian Digital Attacks and AI Optimism at Arab Media Summit
During the Arab Media Summit in Dubai, Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, who heads the UAE Cyber Security Council, disclosed that Iran had targeted the UAE's power infrastructure and sought to eliminate its digital records. He pointed out that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps orchestrated a digital assault in conjunction with missile and drone strikes. While the UAE was prepared for potential data breaches and theft, an attack on the power grid and database was unexpected. Al Kuwaiti emphasized that cyber warfare occurred alongside physical attacks on vital infrastructure, drawing parallels to situations involving Russia and Ukraine. For the last two to three years, the UAE has been conducting cyber drills focused on AI and critical infrastructure, implementing three protective measures: updated policies, collaboration with the private sector, and community education.
