U.S. President Trump Announces Destruction of Major Iranian Bridge, Issues Further Threats

On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the destruction of what he described as Iran's tallest bridge, the B1 bridge located in Karaj, approximately 35 kilometers southwest of Tehran. He issued a warning that more destruction would follow unless Iran agrees to a deal to end the ongoing five-week conflict. Trump shared social media footage showing smoke rising from the bridge and stated that the structure would never be used again. He urged Iran to negotiate before it is too late, suggesting the country could still become great. Iranian officials reported that the strike resulted in eight fatalities and 95 injuries, according to state television and the Fars news agency. Ghodratollah Seif, deputy governor of Alborz province where the bridge is situated, provided these casualty figures. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded on social media, asserting that attacks on civilian infrastructure, including incomplete bridges, would not force Iran to surrender. Due to reporting restrictions, Agence France-Presse noted it could not independently verify the tolls or access the strike sites. The incident follows Trump's earlier threats to severely bomb Iran, escalating tensions in the region.
