TV presenter Dermot Murnaghan dies aged 68

Dermot Murnaghan, a prominent British TV presenter who worked for BBC, ITV, and Sky News, has died at age 68 after a year-long battle with stage four prostate cancer. His family announced his peaceful passing at home in North London. Murnaghan was a fixture on British television news for five decades, presenting flagship programmes such as ITV Evening News, BBC News at Six and Ten, and BBC Breakfast. He also hosted the quiz show Eggheads for 11 years. After his diagnosis in June 2025, he became an advocate for prostate cancer screening, urging men over 50 to get tested. His career began at Channel 4 News, followed by ITV roles including The Big Story and News at 10. He moved to the BBC in 2002, then joined Sky News from 2007 to 2023. He also presented documentaries and launched the podcast Legends of News.
