Tüpokompanii and Laura Pappa Release Vee Typeface and Publication 'Let Yourself Be Bad at Things'
Tüpokompanii, an Estonian type foundry established by Aimur Takk and Andree Paat, has unveiled a new typeface named Vee, crafted by Laura Pappa. The endeavor commenced in 2022 during a four-month type design course at the Estonian Academy of Arts, known as Alma Mater. Pappa took inspiration from the 1907 Venus of Bauer Type Foundry, resulting in the creation of Vee. The foundry embraced the translation errors stemming from Pappa’s loosely interpreted sketches. Vee is characterized by its high-waisted capitals, diverse terminals, and slightly condensed lowercase letters. Takk refers to Vee as “Venus’ younger, more mischievous sister.” Additionally, they published “Let yourself be bad at things,” featuring Vee’s five cuts and whimsical illustrations, highlighting their experimental approach.
