TTArtisan's $89 AF 50mm f/1.8 Neo Lens Offers 3D-Printable Custom Shells
TTArtisan has announced the AF 50mm f/1.8 Neo, an ultra-affordable full-frame prime lens for E, Z, and L-Mount mirrorless cameras, priced at $89. The lens features a unique customization option: users can download 3D printer files from TTArtisan's website to create colorful shells, or "armor," for the E- and Z-mount versions. The most striking design is a "Dragonic Armor" shell resembling dragon scales. The lens itself is autofocus-only, lacking a focus ring, and weighs between 156 and 167 grams depending on the mount. It has a seven-blade aperture, an optical formula of 12 elements in eight groups including two ED and four high-index elements, and focuses as close as 0.48 meters. The lens supports eye- and subject-detect autofocus on compatible cameras. At $89, it is significantly cheaper than competitors: Sony's FE 50mm f/1.8 at $248, Nikon's Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.4 at $597, and Panasonic's Lumix S 50mm f/1.8 at $348. The lens is available now, with 3D-printable files to be released on TTArtisan's website.
