Trump White House Bars CNN, MS Now and Politico as Networks Suspend Pool Coverage
The Trump administration prohibited CNN, MS Now, and Politico from accessing White House premises, prompting ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, and Fox to halt pool coverage. Trump expressed on social media that these media outlets "shouldn't be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES," although some journalists returned the following day. No particular event led to this exclusion. NPR's Mary Louise Kelly declared that they would not cover Trump's statements "in solidarity with our fellow journalists." A similar instance of cross-network unity occurred in 2009 involving the Obama administration and Fox. On Monday, Trump TV launched on YouTube, reaching a peak of 8,500 viewers by Wednesday, highlighting the significance of legacy media for upcoming presidential debates.
