Transmoderna's Immersive AI Installation THE FLIP Opens at Kühlhaus Berlin

From September 8 to 13, 2026, the Berlin-based collective Transmoderna will unveil their immersive project THE FLIP at Kühlhaus Berlin, marking their inaugural local showcase since their establishment in 2018. Founded by creative director Ana Ofak and DJ/producer Steffen Berkhahn (Dixon), the collective has previously exhibited at notable venues such as Fondation Beyeler, Centre Pompidou-Metz, and the Julia Stoschek Foundation. THE FLIP is a 20-minute cinematic journey centered on Mira, an AI entity formed from the artists’ fragments, who senses Earth's unseen magnetic fields, contemplating planetary vulnerability and techno-ecological issues. The installation spans 30 screens in Kühlhaus and features a spatial score by Dixon, Jimi Jules, and Trikk, alongside a VR finale, an experimental sonification tool, a collaborative library with Hopscotch Reading Room, and a custom conversational sculpture named Magnetite. The week will also host an opening DJ set on September 8, a discussion on worldbuilding and perception on September 12, and a multi-artist VJ battle on September 13. Transmoderna's work integrates game engine software, 3D rendering, AI, and raw footage, bridging digital art, club culture, and computational research.
