Transition Design Conference in Mexico City Draws 250+ Specialists from 31 Countries

The 5th International Transition Design Conference took place from July 8 to 11 at Tecnológico de Monterrey's campus in Mexico City, attracting over 250 experts from 31 nations under the theme 'Weaving Regenerative Futures.' Co-hosted by Tecnológico de Monterrey, Carnegie Mellon University, and Universidad de Palermo, the conference highlighted Latin America's role in dialogues about systemic change and collaboration. Notable keynote speakers included Terry Irwin, Alfredo Gutiérrez Borrero, Idil Gaziulusoy, and Anand Pandian, who discussed various crises—ecological, political, economic, and technological. Attendees from more than 100 institutions, such as Parsons School of Design and Royal College of Art, examined interconnected issues like climate change and social inequality. The event concluded with four key themes: systemic change, regenerative futures, cultural transition approaches, and transformative education, emphasizing design's role in shaping diverse futures.
