Top Crime Novels July 2026: Carlsson, Boyle, Hofmann Lead

Kulturnews presents its curated list of the best crime novels for July 2026. The top spot goes to Christoffer Carlsson's 'Hinter dem Nebel', a Swedish crime novel featuring writer Johan Oskarsson's suspicious death and a biography of controversial author Ingrid Klinga. William Boyle's 'Heilige der Narrows Street' ranks second, continuing his Gravesend series with a story of a wife killing her abusive husband in 1980s Brooklyn. Sabine Hofmann's 'Weiße Westen, schwarze Nächte' takes third, a 1960s Ruhr area crime novel inspired by real events, following burglar Hedy Voss. Fourth is Mary Roberts Rinehart's classic 1938 whodunit 'Die Villa am Meer', set in New England. Fifth is Charles den Tex's 'Repair Club – Der vergessene Spion', concluding his spy trilogy with a bomb at a repair workshop. Sixth is Magdalena Parys's dystopian thriller 'Der Prinz', part of her Berlin Trilogy, featuring a murdered priest and paramilitary plots. All novels are published in German in 2026.
