Tone Hansen to Lead Moderna Museet as New Director
Tone Hansen has been named the chief superintendent and director of Moderna Museet in Stockholm and Malmö, according to the Swedish Ministry of Culture. She will take over the position in September, following Gitte Ørskou, who has been at the helm for seven years. Since 2022, Hansen has been the director of MUNCH in Oslo and previously led the Henie Onstad Art Center in Oslo. In her statement, she highlighted her goal of steering Moderna Museet towards a new vision, aiming to create a more innovative and knowledge-focused institution at one of the globe's most significant museums, emphasizing art, architecture, design, and audience engagement.
