Toleen Touq to Curate 2027 MOMENTA Biennale with Focus on Duration and Temporal Experience

Toleen Touq has been selected as curator for the 20th edition of MOMENTA Biennale d'art contemporain, scheduled for 2027. The biennale, titled 'The Long Now,' will explore time as both medium and methodology, moving away from traditional exhibition formats. Approximately 20 international artists will participate in this year-long event, which will investigate how the present is constructed and perceived through temporal frameworks, emotional dimensions, and cultural politics. Instead of fixed exhibitions, the biennale will function as an evolving platform where meaning develops gradually through sustained encounters. The curatorial approach emphasizes qualitative experiences of time rather than linear progression. Touq's professional background includes extensive work with collective learning, relational spaces, and experimental gatherings. She co-founded Spring Sessions in 2014, an Amman-based residency and collective study program. Recent projects include 'Notations for Living,' a listening series at Darat al Funun in 2025, and 'Palestine All The Time,' a 24-hour multidisciplinary program at Gallery TPW in Toronto. Her writings have appeared in publications such as Ibraaz Publishing, Asian Diasporic Visual Cultures and the Americas Journal, and Manifesta Journal.
