TJ Shin's Sound Installation at Los Angeles State Historic Park Explores Migration and Threat
Artist TJ Shin has created a public sound installation titled 'Songs of Emerging Endangerment' at Los Angeles State Historic Park, presented by Clockshop. The work features a repurposed Cold War-era air-raid siren that broadcasts human imitations of endangered bird calls from the East Asian–Australasian Flyway. Shin collaborated with Los Angeles residents whose heritage connects to the migratory corridor's regions to produce the vocalizations. The installation runs from October 25, 2025 to February 22, 2026, transforming a historical warning device into a meditation on ecological threats, migration patterns, and perceptions of danger.
