Theo Bosboom's 'Flowerscapes' Captures Flowers from Insect Perspective Using Laowa PeriProbe Lens

Photographer Theo Bosboom has published a new photobook titled 'Flowerscapes, A Bug's Eye Perspective', featuring images of wildflowers taken from ground level using a Laowa PeriProbe macro lens. The lens, a tube-shaped wide-angle macro with a 24mm focal length and 2:1 magnification, rotates 360 degrees and allows the camera to be placed on the ground pointing upward. Bosboom, a former lawyer who turned to full-time photography in 2023, shot the series mostly in the Netherlands, as well as in Germany and Belgium. One image of Hare's-foot clover (Trifolium arvense) was taken in a field near his former hometown of Harderwijk, next to a highway. He used a Canon R5 with a tripod or bean bag, remote shutter release, and natural light, often at ISO 1000–5000. The lens, designed primarily for filmmakers, requires manual focus and aperture settings, with a minimum aperture of f/14.
