Théâtre de la Tempête stages Kafka's 'The Trial' as 'Josef K.'

The Théâtre de la Tempête in Paris is presenting "Josef K.", an adaptation of Franz Kafka's novel "The Trial" ("Le Procès"), directed by Clément Poirée. The production, which opened recently, explores the existential thriller of Josef K., who is arrested on his thirtieth birthday without knowing the charges. Poirée's adaptation delves into K.'s inner life, dreams, and anxieties, featuring a cast of actor-singers-circus performers in a highly physical performance. The show incorporates visions of fallen angels, an Olympic swimming champion, an idle toreador, and a squirrel-man, blurring the lines between wakefulness and sleep. The production aims to provoke reflection on a world described as "diabolical in its innocence." The play is based on Kafka's unfinished novel, published posthumously in 1925, and is a co-production with the Théâtre de la Tempête. The venue is located in the Bois de Vincennes, Paris. The event is part of the Club Artistik Rezo partner program.
