The Hive Architects Designs Subterranean Fluentus Residences in Kythnos
The Hive Architects has created the Fluentus Residences project on the Greek island of Kythnos. This residential development consists of three underground units built into a steep Cycladic hillside. The design employs terrain architecture principles, using the landscape itself to shape low, elongated structures that appear to emerge from the earth. Warm-toned exposed concrete forms the main material, while planted roofs and natural vegetation help integrate the buildings into their surroundings. Large windows frame views of the landscape, and private courtyards provide outdoor spaces oriented toward open vistas. The project aims to minimize visual impact by establishing a new relationship between architecture and the natural environment.
