The Flat – Massimo Carasi Gallery Relocates to 280 sqm Space Near Milan Central Station

The Flat – Massimo Carasi gallery is moving from its Porta Venezia location after 18 years to a new 280-square-meter exhibition space near Milan's Central Station. Founded in 2002 in Mantova by Massimo Carasi and Daniela Barbieri, the gallery has been a Milanese reference point for emerging international research with a focus on experimental languages and hybrid artistic practices. The inaugural exhibition "Here… Now!" opens on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Via Edolo 26, featuring a curated selection of artists the gallery has promoted over two decades. The show includes works by Hiva Alizadeh, Matthew Allen, Stefano Caimi, Paolo Cavinato, Anthony Coleman, Inma Femenía, Greta Frau, Peter Frederiksen, Michael Johansson, Adrian Hobbs, Sali Muller, Asuka Ohsawa, Edward del Rosario, Guadalupe Salgado, and Leonardo Ulian. Carasi describes the new space as a "laboratory" for experimentation and research, noting the Central Station area's transformation into a creative hub. The gallery's relocation reflects expansion ambitions with more flexible environments for exhibitions and special projects. "Here… Now!" serves as a self-portrait of the gallery, tracing artistic trajectories from the early 2000s to present. The exhibition title references societal acceleration while emphasizing presence and continuity despite the new space not being fully renovated.
