Teresa Potter Leaves Galveston Arts Center Executive Director Post for Rosenberg Library

institutional · 2026-10-03

On Friday, September 18, the Galveston Arts Center revealed that Teresa Potter is stepping down as Executive Director to take a role at the Rosenberg Library in Galveston. She shared with Glasstire that she’s eager to "return to my librarian roots." Potter has led GAC since early 2024, following Lisa Shaw’s tenure that began in 2018. Joan Finn, the Board President, expressed sadness over Potter's departure but noted that she leaves the organization in great shape for her successor. The search for this new leader is underway, with job postings in Glasstire's classifieds. Curator Dennis Nance confirmed that all scheduled programs will proceed as planned, including the exhibition The Fruit Jar opening on Saturday, October 10, and a performance lecture on Houston's LGBTQ+ history on Saturday, October 24.
