Tepoztlán Market by Ramírez Suarez Arquitectos and Laboratorio Regional de Arquitectura Opens in Mexico
In Tepoztlán, Mexico, a new municipal market spanning 5,754 square meters has been inaugurated, crafted by Ramírez Suarez Arquitectos and Laboratorio Regional de Arquitectura. Situated 80 kilometers south of Mexico City, this multi-level facility boasts 195 stalls distributed over three floors, addressing the town center's commercial deficiencies. Spearheaded by SEDATU, the construction utilizes steel, brick, and wood, featuring a grid of steel modules measuring 2.5 by 2.5 meters. The terracotta hues draw inspiration from local clay, enhanced by exposed brick and wooden furnishings. Additionally, the market offers outdoor terraces, green areas, and underground parking, with the goal of relocating informal street vendors while improving logistics and safety. Carlos Ramírez Suárez led the design team.
