Teedah Hammer's Quonset-Inspired Cabin in Quebec Blends Rural Form with Contemporary Living

Architectural designer Teedah Hammer has completed a compact cabin called The Hanger in a rural Quebec village. The structure reinterprets the area's agricultural Quonset buildings into a modern dwelling with a curved steel profile covering less than 40 square meters. Completed in summer 2025, the project features a light-filled interior with a mezzanine, reclaimed bowling lane flooring, and a material palette that includes pale wood and white surfaces. Hammer, founder of studio Hammer&Son, designed the cabin to express its full height and curved structure while incorporating playful elements like vintage postmodern furniture. The exterior combines corrugated steel arches with cedar siding that will weather to blend with the wooded setting.
