Tate Buys Michaela Yearwood-Dan and Luis Fernando Zapata at Frieze 2026
Tate has expanded its collection by acquiring two significant works at Frieze 2026, thanks to the Frieze Tate Fund. From Hauser & Wirth at Frieze London, Tate purchased Michaela Yearwood-Dan's "Peace Unknown" (2026), a vibrant canvas measuring 220 by 220 cm that incorporates various materials such as glitter and oil paint. At Frieze Masters, Tate acquired Luis Fernando Zapata's "Barge" (1992) from Galería Elvira Moreno and Alonso Garcés Galería, a piece crafted from natural pigments on papier-mâché measuring 186 × 62 × 10 cm. This marks the first time both artists' works will be featured in Tate's collection.
