Taschen and Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Release Two-Volume Catalogue on Storytelling in Art

publication · 2026-08-29

Taschen has unveiled a two-volume collection created in partnership with George Lucas and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. This catalogue delves into the history of narrative art, starting from ancient cave drawings and moving through to modern-day symbols like Star Wars and Marvel. Ryan Linkof, the museum's senior curator in Los Angeles, believes that myths bring people together by reflecting shared beliefs, highlighting artistic development from the Paleolithic era to monumental sites like the Giza pyramid complex. It also features religious artwork from the Renaissance and Baroque, alongside Chinese scrolls, South Asian miniatures, and scenes from the Northern Renaissance. Notable artists included are Don Maitz, Norman Rockwell, and Jack Kirby.
