Taryn Simon's 'Father Country I Do Love You' to Fill Guggenheim Rotunda in 2026

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York will host Taryn Simon's exhibition 'Father Country I Do Love You' from September 18, 2026, to March 14, 2027. This marks the first time a photography-based artist has had a monographic exhibition in the museum's spiral, making it the largest introduction of new works there. The display comprises 42 interconnected pieces that delve into the narrative of an unnamed federal agent, honoring Simon's father, a former U.S. government worker living with Alzheimer's. Coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the United States, the exhibition investigates themes of national identity and institutional power. Organized by Nat Trotman, the works will be added to the permanent collection, and Hatje Cantz will publish an artist book.
