Tara Menon's European Tour Brings Her to Germany for Three Readings
Harvard professor and author Tara Menon will read from her acclaimed debut novel "Unter Wasser" ("Under Water") at three German venues in June as part of her European tour. The novel follows Marissa, who loses her mother at age six and moves with her marine biologist father to Thailand, where she befriends Arielle. The girls explore reefs and forests, learning to dive and hold their breath. After Arielle dies in a giant wave, years later Marissa, now back in New York and haunted by memories, faces another natural disaster over two fateful days. Menon, born in India and raised in Singapore, teaches English literature at Harvard and lives in Somerville, Massachusetts. Reading dates: June 8 in Cologne at Die Wohngemeinschaft, June 9 in Heidelberg at the Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut, and June 10 in Berlin at Dussmann – Das Kulturkaufhaus.
