Tangent Design Group Lifts Porsche 911 Three Inches for Chicago Urban Safari
Chicago-based industrial design studio Tangent Design Group has transformed a 2021 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (992 generation) into an off-road-inspired 'Urban Safari' vehicle. The project, initiated in 2019 after completing another 911 commission, involved lifting the car three inches with a custom suspension lift that retains the factory suspension, fitting larger off-road tires on forged aluminum wheels produced with Brixton Forged, and adding a bull bar, roof rack with recovery gear, and a ducktail rear spoiler. The car is finished in Paint-to-Sample Black Olive, which shifts between deep green and near-black, with yellow graphics and amber lights. Tangent employed a hybrid workflow: 3D scanning the car's body panels, designing components in CAD, and prototyping full-size parts using a large-format 3D printer to test fit and proportion.
