Sushisamba Opens New Location in West Hollywood with Distinctive Design and Culinary Offerings
Sushisamba, a global restaurant concept blending Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian influences, has launched a new venue in Los Angeles. Situated at 639 N La Peer Dr in West Hollywood's Design District, adjacent to the Kimpton La Peer hotel, this opening marks its expansion beyond existing sites in cities like London, Dubai, Singapore, and Milan. The design, crafted by Dizon Collective, features a multi-level outdoor area with a central courtyard, over a dozen booths and tables, a circular bar, and a stage for live performances. Artistic elements include wall murals by Long Beach surfer and artist Steve Fowley, characterized by wave-like strokes in primary colors, and a playful pink wall sculpture by Brazilian artist Daniel de Paulo. The space pays tribute to Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx with lush greenery outdoors, while an indoor private dining room offers hand-painted gold-leaf wallpaper, a sushi bar, and a robata grill, complemented by globe lights from Neal Studio in San Diego. Culinary direction is led by executive chef Maxwell Terheggen and corporate chef John Um, offering a menu that spans robata grill items, sushi, and Peruvian ceviche specialties. Signature dishes include yellowtail taquitos, green bean tempura, skewers for sharing, and the exclusive Samba LA Roll with Japanese A5 Wagyu and soft-shell crab tempura. The bar program, overseen by mixology veteran Devon Espinosa, features tropical cocktails and non-alcoholic options like homemade Brazilian lemonade. This opening highlights the brand's growth and its focus on immersive dining experiences in a design-forward setting.
