Survey Reveals Staffing Crisis at POC-Led Museums; Artist Ali Cherri Files War Crimes Complaint
A recent report indicates that cultural institutions and museums in the Northeast, managed by individuals of color, are experiencing significant staffing challenges, with more than one-third lacking a full-time staff member. Lebanese artist Ali Cherri, who received the Silver Lion Award at the 2022 Venice Biennale, has charged the Israeli military with committing a war crime due to a 2024 attack in Beirut that resulted in the deaths of his parents. In Upstate New York, Taliesin Thomas has created a guide featuring ten exhibitions for April, showcasing artists such as Lisa Karrer, Deirdre O'Connell, and Caleb Weintraub. The Center for Craft will provide up to four fellowships of $5,000 for 2026. The Brooklyn Fine Art Print Fair is set to take place from April 9–12, 2026. Farah Abdessamad explores Cherri's ceramic piece "Standing Figure (Pow!)" (2023).
