Supergirl's Tragic Origin Story and Quest for Revenge

The film 'Supergirl' starring Milly Alcock explores the tragic origin of Kara Zor-El, who unlike her cousin Superman, was raised on Krypton's Argo City and witnessed her family suffer from Kryptonite radiation. This trauma leads her to seek out red suns to weaken her powers and drink to forget. She initially rejects a plea for help from Ruthye Marye Knoll, whose family was killed by the Brigands led by Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts). The film reveals that Kara's parents Zor-El (David Krumholtz) and Alura In-Ze (Emily Beecham) were not fascists but wanted her to survive. No sequel has been announced, but James Gunn's 'Man of Tomorrow' is scheduled for 2027, potentially featuring Kara.
