Sudanese Migrant Karam Hassan Publishes Memoir 'Un rêve plus loin'

Karam Hassan, a Sudanese migrant from Darfur, has published a memoir titled 'Un rêve plus loin' with Albin Michel. The book recounts his odyssey from Sudan to France, including his passage through Egypt, a perilous sea crossing, Italy, and the traumatic experience of the Calais jungle. Hassan, who now heads the association La voix des réfugiés, reflects on his journey and the realization of his dream to reach Arras, France, while feeling like a survivor of a plane crash. The narrative is framed as a modern Odyssey, with Hassan as a dandy who once aspired to be a journalist and could have become an informant against the regime of Omar El Bechir. The book's title references a phrase he carried with him during his migration: 'living on European weather time.'
