Substack Star Rayne Fisher-Quann Signs Book Deal with Knopf

Rayne Fisher-Quann, the 24-year-old writer behind the Substack newsletter Internet Princess, has signed a deal with Knopf for her debut essay collection, Complex Female Character, scheduled for fall 2027. Known for viral pieces like 'The Cult of the Dissociative Pout' and 'Who’s Afraid of Amber Heard?', Fisher-Quann brings her cultural critique to print. In an interview, she describes her erratic writing ritual—reading, researching, and sleeping all day, then writing from midnight until sunrise. She admits to losing faith in herself every time she writes and has recorded a video of herself at her lowest point to rewatch when hopeless. Her overused phrase is 'strange and sad.' She advises her generation to read more works over 75 years old and fewer micro-essays rehashing weekly discourse. The most romantic part of being a writer, she says, is meeting romantic people; the least romantic is developing a neck hump from computer use. She buys books at McNally Jackson, Spoonbill & Sugartown, and ThriftBooks. Her lowbrow indulgence is reading wealthy women's blogs about makeup and gift guides.
