Studio Capitanio Architetti Completes Nursery School in Romano di Lombardia

Studio Capitanio Architetti has completed a new nursery school in Romano di Lombardia, Italy, designed specifically for children aged 0 to 2 years. The 845-square-meter educational facility, finished in 2025, represents an architectural approach where space functions as an active participant in early childhood development rather than merely a container for activities. The design team, led by Andrea Drago with contributions from Claudio Crevena and Greta Cortinovis, created a spatial layout focused on clarity and legibility to support orientation, safety, and independence. The project integrates pedagogical goals with spatial quality, aiming to shape relationships, foster autonomy, and nurture children's perception of themselves and their surroundings. Key collaborators included structural engineer Sebastiano Moioli, MEP consultant ING, general contractor Ecoedile, and builder Impresa Ecoedile. The project utilized products from manufacturers including Carpenterie Pezzetti, Celenit, Extramobili, MDM, Rasenfix, Spazio Arredo, Tarkett, and Ytong. The nursery school falls under the educational architecture and kindergarten category, with office leadership provided by Remo Capitanio and technical direction by Alberto Valtulini.
